David Lynch
Works on Paper

Pierre and Gilles
from June 20th to July 31st, 2018
Le Génie du Christianisme
Pierre et Gilles
Couvent des Minimes' Chapel, Perpignan.
This exhibition presents a series of ancient and new works that have the sacred and religion for common points. It develops a godly imagery but catch a net of the poses marked and ultra-saturated colors of Pierre and Gilles. The desecrated chapel, whose mural frescoes are hidden, waiting for restoration, finds its mystical vocation during the exhibition of the French artist duo. Far from being a provocation, the exhibition shows the religious imagery of Pierre and Gilles that is perceived through the eyes of a dozen large formats that fit perfectly into a traditional setting and reflects with perfection the sensuality already present in the paintings of the Renaissance.
An exhibition produced by the FILAF festival in co-production with the city of Perpignan.
Curated by Numa Hambursin.
Souvenir (Isabelle Huppert), Pierre and Gilles, 2016, photograph printed by inkjet on canvas and painted, 119 x 167 cm.

Alexandre Léger
from June 19th to July 31st, 2018
Galerie du FILAF, Perpignan
Alexandre Leger produces a work on the boundary of poetry, drawing and sculpture. Fascinated by Perec and William Blake, he finds in crosswords hidden poems that he fills, and draws all around using this technic as a starting point. In the same way, his sculptures made of pencils use processes of exhaustion of the meaning of a poetic sentence, revealing its plastic value.

Léa Bismuth
Juror
She is a writer, art critic (especially in Artpress since 2006) and independent exhibition commissioner. Her pratique as exhibition commissioner, as a writing gesture, mixes literature and contemporary art, opening a field of experimentation. It is in this perspective that we should understand her curatorial research program that she initiated at Labanque de Béthune with thirty artists : La Traversée des Inquiétudes (according to Georges Bataille, 2016-2019). This research was accompanied by the publication of three complete supplements of Artpress dedicated to each exhibition and which will give rise to a book of collective artists under her direction (Filigranes editions, 2019). We can also quote her work for the Nouvelles Vagues of the Palais de Tokyo (Bruissements, 2013), Les Rencontres d’Arles 2017 and 2018, Les Tanneries d’Amilly (L’Éternité par les Astres, 2017) or Le BAL (Clément Cogitore/ Braguino ou la communauté impossible, 2017).
